Job summary

Ilocatum is seeking an Equipment Engineer to join the Binghamton, NY area. This hands-on role focuses on equipment reliability, troubleshooting, process improvement, and optimization of a mix of automated and legacy machinery to boost uptime and production performance.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of hands-on automation and manufacturing engineering experience, strong PLC/HMI knowledge, and the ability to lead projects and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or Mechatronics preferred; AAS with electro-mechanical/automation experience considered.
• 3+ years of hands-on automation, equipment, or manufacturing engineering experience.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and working knowledge of PLC/HMI; advanced PLC programming not required.
• Experience with automated manufacturing equipment including machine vision, robotics, motion systems, pneumatics, sensors, tooling/fixtures, welding, fastening, or automated inspection.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, commission, and optimize new automated equipment and legacy machinery to maximize uptime and production performance.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, controls, and process issues involving PLC/HMI, machine vision, robotics, motion systems, pneumatics, sensors, tooling.
• Lead equipment and automation projects including vendor coordination, installation, validation, production ramp-up, root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering and outside vendors while mentoring junior engineers and technicians.
