Overview

Knife River is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support the Equipment Department. This role involves performing a variety of accounting tasks, ensuring timely and accurate processing to meet departmental deadlines. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, eager to learn all aspects of the role, and ready to assist the team as needed.

This position may be based at either the Waco or Bryan shop location.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–2 years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., JDE) and document management systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated work ethic and eagerness to learn
  • Ability to follow instructions and manage assigned workflows
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality
  • Adaptable, with the ability to multitask and prioritize during peak periods
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet month-end deadlines
  • Composed under pressure, with strong attention to detail
  • Enter weekly time records for shop employees in Kronos
  • Participate in mandatory safety training practices
  • JDE asset module, including asset creation, disposal, and updates
  • Process purchase orders for shop parts and supplies in JDE
  • Fleet maintenance and equipment tracking
  • Execute month-end close tasks accurately and within deadlines
  • Process work orders for shop parts, Vendor services and supplies in JDE
  • Support enhancements to internal accounting controls
  • Process equipment invoices for shop parts and supplies in JDE
  • Cross train on other fixed asset employee duties
Physical & Environmental Demands
