Qualifications

• Knowledge of state and federal laws related to affirmative action programs.
• Ability to develop and implement affirmative action plans and analyze HR records and statistics.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Must be a current State of Connecticut employee with at least six months of full-time service.

Job description

The Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist 1 works for the Connecticut Department of Social Services Division of Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity in Hartford, supporting affirmative action initiatives and equal employment opportunities. Responsibilities include developing and implementing affirmative action plans, analyzing employment data, conducting discrimination complaint investigations, and coordinating outreach and recruitment efforts. The position is full-time, hybrid, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm.

Key qualifications:

• Six (6) years of professional experience in affirmative action, equal opportunity assurance, or human resources management
• Two (2) years of the general experience must have involved primary responsibility for affirmative action or equal opportunity assurance in an employment setting
• Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes, and regulations related to affirmative action programs
• Ability to develop and implement affirmative action plans and compile, analyze, and evaluate human resources records and statistical information
• Considerable interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills
• Must be a current State of Connecticut employee with at least six (6) months of full-time service
