Job summary

Ampirical is seeking an EPC Project Manager to lead high-stakes substation, P&C, and T&D projects in the US. You will manage scope, schedule, budget, and safety, while guiding multi-discipline teams to deliver on-time, on-budget results.

You will collaborate with engineers, suppliers, and clients, develop proposals, optimize BOMs, and ensure QA/QC standards. The role offers growth, competitive compensation, and comprehensive benefits from day one.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; in lieu of degree, 4 additional years experience.
  • Experience managing EPC Substation, P&C, or T&D projects or similar utility environments; transition to T&D/substation work.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint for cost/schedule reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full project lifecycle: safety, scope, schedule, budget, risk for EPC Substation, P&C, or T&D projects.
  • Oversee designs, BOM, equipment specs, construction requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to hit milestones.
  • Lead development of proposals, schedules, and material lists.
  • Provide project performance updates to stakeholders.
  • Ensure QA/QC through engineering work reviews.

Your Role: EPC Project Manager 1 or 2

As a Project Manager at Ampirical, you'll manage high-stakes, high-voltage Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects with a focus on excellence. You'll lead multi-discipline engineering projects, ensuring timely, on-budget completion while upholding our Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Control (QC) guidelines. Working with talented engineers, sub-contractors, and clients, you'll be at the forefront of designing and delivering innovative power solutions.

What You'll Do
  • Managing the full project life cycle, including safety, scope, schedule, budget, and risk for complex EPC Substation, Protection & Controls (P&C), or Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Line projects

  • Overseeing project designs, Bill of Materials (BOM), equipment specifications, and construction requirements

  • Collaborating with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to drive project milestones

  • Leading the development of project proposals, schedules, and material lists

  • Providing project performance updates to internal and external stakeholders

  • Ensuring high-quality deliverables by conducting engineering work reviews

  • Traveling to client sites and vendor facilities to ensure alignment on project goals

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (in lieu of a degree, 4 additional years of relevant work experience)

  • Experience managing EPC Substation, Protection & Controls (P&C), or Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Line projects, or comparable project management experience in adjacent industrial or utility environments (e.g., power generation, oil & gas/petrochemical EPC, industrial construction) with a demonstrated ability to transition into T&D/substation work

    • Level 1: 3-5 years

    • Level 2:5-10 years

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for cost/schedule reporting

  • A strong leader with advanced organizational skills to manage multiple complex projects

  • A skilled communicator capable of leading cross-functional teams and engaging stakeholders

  • Knowledge of utility engineering practices with an emphasis on Transmission/Substation design and critical path method scheduling
