Job summary

Methodist Dallas Medical Center is seeking an EP Lab Technologist to support invasive cardiovascular procedures in the cath lab under supervision. The role focuses on monitor tech duties, scrub tech support, imaging equipment operation, and patient monitoring.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field, ACLS certification, and ARRT/TX RT(R) credentials or RCIS within 18 months of hire.

  • ACLS certification is required.
  • RCIS certification due within 18 months of hire; ARRT and TX RT(R) certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists physician as monitor tech during cath lab procedures, interpreting dysrhythmia and EKGs.
  • Operates imaging equipment under physician direction; assists as scrub tech.
  • Monitors patient status as circulator during procedures and assists with supplies.
  • Transports patient to and from the department.
  • Manages supplies: order entry, cleaning, stocking.
  • Demonstrates procedural knowledge and maintains sterile technique.
  • Orders supplies and manages inventory for the cath lab.
  • Removes arterial/venous sheath post-procedure, ensures hemostasis, monitors patient.
  • Prepares lab and patient for procedures, including shaving and prepping.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems.

Hours of Work : 10 hour shift Days Of Week : 4 days a week Work Shift : Job Description : Your Job: The EP Lab Technologist primary responsibility is to assist with technical aspects of invasive cardiovascular procedures under the direction of the supervisor and physician.

Job Requirements:
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree, science emphasis or commensurate healthcare experience
  • Licenses and/or Certifications (Required and Preferred)
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardio Life Support certification
  • RCIS certified within eighteen (18) months of date of hire OR
  • ARRT and TX RT(R)
Your Job Responsibilities:
  • Assists physician as a monitor tech during any procedure performed in the cath lab by interpreting basic and advanced dysrhythmia and EKG’s and operating physiologic recorder, and interpreting normal and abnormal pressures and wave forms.
  • Assists physician with most procedures as a scrub tech and operates imaging equipment under direction of physician.
  • Assists physician with some diagnostic procedures as a circulator by monitoring patient status during a procedure, handing supplies to the scrub tech, and operating imaging equipment under the direction of the physician.
  • Assists with transport of patient to and from department.
  • Supply management: order entry/ cleaning/ stocking products
  • Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of procedures.
  • Orders supplies for cath lab and demonstrates effective inventory control.
  • Post procedure safety removes arterial and/or venous sheath, maintains hemostasis, and monitors patient status.
  • Prepares lab for procedure by setting up for procedure and maintaining sterile technique.
  • Prepares patient for procedure by shaving and prepping patient and marking arterial pulses.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems.
