Job summary

Alaire Technologies in Alexandria, VA is seeking Research Engineers and Engineering Physicists to develop electro‑optical, IR, laser, and sensor technologies for ISR and national defense. You will perform experiments, build prototypes, collect data, and integrate systems from concept through testing. Candidates should hold a BS, MS, or PhD in a STEM field, have hands‑on lab experience, and be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance (active preferred).

U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Physics, Engineering Physics, Electrical/Optical/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or related STEM fields.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory, research, or engineering projects.
• Ability to assemble, test, troubleshoot, and integrate experimental systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test laboratory experiments and prototype hardware.
• Develop and integrate data acquisition, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Support electro-optical (EO), infrared (IR), laser, and sensing technologies development.
• Conduct experimental testing, system characterization, and validation.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data using statistical methods.
• Develop software tools for automation, data acquisition, and analysis.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and government customers.
