Summary

Environmental Worker performs moderate to heavy manual work housekeeping tasks on an assigned shift in a healthcare setting. Employees in this classification perform manual work involving a variety of housekeeping tasks to assist in the maintenance of the area.

Responsibilities

Vacuums or sweeps, mops and wet washes floors daily. Cleans the assigned patient and non‑patient care areas. Collects and transports trash, cleans and relines trash containers with plastic bags, in accordance with daily work schedule. Maintains responsibility for the following duties; Responsible for daily dusting of all counter tops and shelves inside/outside, also wiping of cabinets. Completes all cleaning of discharge patient units, as vacancies occur. Daily monitoring of the delivery of laundry for assigned units. Utilizes detergents, disinfectants, polishes, finishes, etc.in accordance with established guidelines. Cleaning for all isolates, warmers, IMED pumps, monitors, bill lights and any other related equipment used upon patients’ discharge. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

Experience

Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.

Education

Physical Requirements

• Job functions requires extended walking or standing. Must be able to climb stairs/ladder, stoop, bend, crawl and perform repetitive motions as needed. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Must be able to lift , push or pull objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices.
• Function requires visual acuity to perform job related activities such as: operating machines or motor vehicles and performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a repetitive and non‑repetitive nature.
