Job summary

Apex Technology, based in Playa Vista, CA, seeks an experienced Environmental Test Engineer to ensure reliability of spacecraft through advanced environmental testing. You will design, implement, and manage test protocols for vibration, thermal cycling, EMI/EMC, and pressure testing, and work with production, design, and QA teams.

The role requires 3+ years in aerospace environmental testing, strong instrumentation knowledge (thermocouples, accelerometers, DAQ), and familiarity with MIL-STD-461

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in environmental testing within the aerospace industry.
• Strong knowledge of aerospace testing standards, protocols, and regulations (MIL-STD-461, GSFC-STD-7000, SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-810).
• Experience with operating and maintaining environmental testing equipment.
• Experience with instrumentation used during environmental testing (thermocouples, accelerometers, DAQ).
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and manage test plans, procedures, protocols, and requirements for environmental testing including vibration, thermal cycling, EMI/EMC, and pneumatic pressure testing.
• Scope, purchase, set-up and maintain environmental testing equipment (vibration shakers, thermal chambers).
• Perform production and qualification level environmental testing with functional and performance checks.
• Analyze test data, interpret results, and generate comprehensive test reports.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and action issues across spacecraft and test equipment.
• Collaborate with production, design, and quality assurance to identify and resolve issues.
• Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies for accuracy and efficiency.
• Provide technical support and guidance to engineers and technicians.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in environmental testing.
