Colonial Group in Kansas is seeking a Part-Time Temporary Environmental Technician to support vegetation management in city parks, natural areas, and cemeteries.

You will help with invasive species control, native plant maintenance and restoration, vegetation monitoring, and herbicide application, using hand tools and small equipment. This role offers hands-on field work and exposure to environmental projects.

Qualifications

• College coursework or two years of experience in environmental studies, natural resources, horticulture, or a related field.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a commercial pesticide applicator’s license.

Job description

The Part-Time Temporary Environmental Technician assists with vegetation management and environmental stewardship in City parks, natural areas, and cemeteries. Duties include invasive species control, native plant maintenance and restoration, vegetation monitoring, herbicide application, planting native plants in restoration areas, and operating hand tools, small equipment, and sprayers. The position also assists with routine grounds maintenance and other environmental projects as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

College coursework or two years of experience in environmental studies, natural resources, horticulture, or a related field, and the ability to obtain and maintain a commercial pesticide applicator’s license.
