Job summary

Intertek Building & Construction in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking an Entry Level Environmental Technician I to support environmental consulting activities, including asbestos and indoor air quality work. This role may require some off-shift hours and occasional travel.

You will conduct surveys, sampling, Phase I/II activities, prepare field documentation and reports, and communicate with clients and regulatory agencies to keep projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree or 2-year Technical Degree preferred.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements.
• Must read and understand scope of work / work plans.
• Must be able to work off shifts and overtime and willing to work out of town.
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record required.

What are we looking for?

The Entry Level Environmental Technician will support the environmental business by conducting environmental consulting work. This includes asbestos and indoor air quality related work and more. This position will require some off-shift and overtime work, as well as occasional travel.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or equivalent required, Associates Degree or 2-year Technical Degree
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements
• Must be able to read and understand scope of work / work plans
• Must be able to work off shifts and overtime and willing to work out of town
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree or BS in Environmental Science, Geology, or related field
• Experience in environmental consulting services
• Asbestos and Industrial Hygiene experience and license

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.
• Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
• Ability to climb occasionally
