Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Technician to support field assessments, data collection, and reporting in the assigned area.

The incumbent will assist team members with soil testing, data processing, and mapping to evaluate environmental impacts. Responsibilities include preparing reports and permits, staying updated on soil regulations, and learning sampling protocols while collaborating with staff and clients.

Qualifications

• Intermediate level of AutoCAD and other design software.
• Experience with geographic information systems and other discipline specific computer modeling programs required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products.
• Valid Virginia driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

Westwood Professional Services, Inc is seeking an Environmental Technician for the success of projects and assignments in his or her area of responsibility. The incumbent will assist team members in field assessments, testing and data collection to help determine the effects of human activity on the environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist other staff in completing soil testing and other environmental field assessments
• Collect and process environmental field data
• Prepare project mapping as directed by environmental team leader
• Assist in preparation of reports, permits and other technical documents
• Become knowledgeable of current soil regulations in geographic area of responsibility
• Become familiar with environmental sampling protocols and soil testing methods
• Actively participate in client development activities as directed by manager

Required Skills And Abilities

• Intermediate level of AutoCAD and other design software
• Experience with geographic information systems and other discipline specific computer modeling programs required
• Ability to think independently and as part of a project team
• Ability to interact with clients, and regulatory agencies in a professional manner
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products
• Valid Virginia driver's license and a satisfactory driving record

Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university required
• Valid Virginia driver’s license is required
• Ability to complete training and testing for licensure within established time frame
