Job summary

RJN Group Inc. is seeking an Environmental Technician to join our employee-owned field team. Under the Field Manager, you will support field inspection services across sanitary and storm sewers and other underground infrastructure.

You will conduct manhole inspections, smoke testing, and dye water flooding while performing confined space entry and assisting with flow meter installations. Travel and overtime may be required, with a strong emphasis on safety and professional conduct.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license and basic computer skills.
• Ability to read and interpret sewer/road maps.
• Physical and cognitive ability for confined space work.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspection services including manhole inspection, smoke testing, and dye water flooding.
• Perform confined space entry work on a daily basis.
• Assist with installation and maintenance of flow meters.
• Maintain and clean equipment and vehicles to ensure safe, productive work.
• Interact with clients and the public professionally.
• Adhere to RJN Safety Manual and SOPs.
• Travel and overtime as required.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Field Manager, the Environmental Technician will play an integral part in RJN’s success. They will assist with field inspection services in sanitary sewers, storm sewers, and other underground infrastructure.

Position Responsibilities:

• Conduction of field inspection services such as manhole inspection, smoke testing, and dye water flooding.
• Perform confined space entry work in manholes on a daily basis
• Assist with installation and maintenance of flow meters
• Assist with maintaining and cleaning equipment and vehicles to ensure work can be performed in a safe and productive manner.
• Interact with clients and general public in a professional manner.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures contained in the RJN Group, Inc. Safety Manual and Standard Operating Procedures
• Travel and work overtime as required.

Minimum Skills & Experience:

• High School diploma or GED certificate from an accredited institution
• Valid driver’s license
• Mechanical skills- as you will be utilizing hand and power tools
• Basic computer skills
• Proficiency with smartphones and tablets (iPads, etc.)
• Physical and cognitive abilities to perform confined space entry
• Ability to read and interpret sewer and road maps

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience working within confined space entry
• Experience working within a customer centric role
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.)

• Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal. The noise level in the field environment is usually moderate. Employee may be required to be in a confined space for an extended length of time.
• Personal Protective Equipment: None required in office. If working in field, must wear steel-toe boots, Class 2 or Class 3 safety vest, and high visibility T-shirt. Other PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, hard hat and other standard equipment used as needed.
