An Environmental Services Aide plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, residents, visitors, and staff. Environmental Services Aides are responsible for cleaning and disinfecting different areas of a facility while following safety and infection-control procedures. Their work helps prevent the spread of germs and contributes to the overall comfort, health, and well‑being of everyone in the facility.
The Environmental Services Aide is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and sanitation duties throughout the facility. Duties may include cleaning patient or resident rooms, offices, hallways, bathrooms, common areas, and other assigned spaces. The aide sweeps, mops, vacuums, dusts, empties trash, and disinfects frequently touched surfaces.
Environmental Services Aides must properly use cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) according to facility policies and safety guidelines. They are also responsible for keeping cleaning supplies and equipment organized and reporting safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or supply shortages to their supervisor.
The position requires attention to detail, reliability, good communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The aide should be able to follow instructions and maintain a professional and respectful attitude when interacting with patients, residents, visitors, and other employees.
