Job summary

Veolia in North America is seeking a remediation and disposal specialist in Mount Olive, IL. You will perform spill response, sample waste, and oversee packaging, labeling, and transport, while ensuring strict compliance with environmental regulations.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED, with a preference for a BSc in Chemistry or related field; 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and a valid CDL HazMat endorsement are highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's License; ability to obtain CDL with Hazardous endorsement.

Responsibilities

  • Sample waste streams per policies and procedures.
  • Manifest, package, spill cleanup and remedial activities; label and coordinate transport.
  • Maintain a professional image; answer inquiries and propose solutions.
  • Comply with health, safety, and procedures per VES-TS policies.
  • Know and follow DOT/EPA and VES-TS regulations in paperwork for disposal.
  • On-call emergency response, including nights and weekends.
  • Confined Space Entry.

Job Description

Position Purpose:

This position provides specialized remedial and disposal services to our clients. Responsibilities include but are not limited to spill response, confined space entry, packaging, labeling, loading/unloading, transporting, and sampling/profiling of hazardous and non hazardous materials. All duties must be performed in strict compliance with applicable state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Primary Duties /Responsibilities:

  • Sample waste streams according to prescribed policies and procedures.
  • Manifesting, packaging, spill clean-up response and remedial activities, labeling, loading, off loading, and coordinating transportation.
  • Maintain a professional image to clients: answering inquiries and suggesting solutions to existing/potential problems.
  • Comply and enforce all compliance, health, safety, and procedures in accordance with VES-TS policies.
  • Become familiar with all U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT)/Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and VES-TS regulations required in submitting paper work to expedite disposal of hazardous waste.
  • On Call Emergency Response (Including Nights & weekends)
  • Confined Space Entry
Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background:

  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related science discipline preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Required Certification / Licenses / Training:

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in all atmospheric conditions
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds
  • Required to wear respiratory protection (clean shaven)
Additional Information

Hourly Pay Range:$23 to $25 per hour
