Job summary

Veolia North America is seeking a traveling hazardous waste technician to perform outdoor waste handling tasks in protective gear, consolidating and loading containers for processing at sites or transfer to facilities.

The role requires overtime, a clean-shaven appearance, and the ability to obtain a Class B CDL; 40-hour HAZWOPER and Safety training are provided.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a Class B CDL.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER and Safety training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Consolidate hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials at designated sites using appropriate equipment.
  • Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums and containers per RCRA guidelines.
  • Assist in completing paperwork for processing materials.
  • Sample waste streams according to policies and procedures.
  • Manifest, package, and coordinate transportation and disposal of wastes.
  • Maintain a professional image and address client inquiries with solutions.
  • Comply with all health, safety, and procedures (VES-TS).
  • Familiarize with DOT/EPA and VES-TS regulations for paperwork and disposal.
  • Operate and maintain equipment to ensure efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

This is a traveling position. Additionally, candidates must be comfortable with working overtime and maintaining a clean-shaven appearance.

Position Purpose

Responsible for performing a variety of daily hazardous and non-hazardous waste tasks outside while wearing personal protective equipment. Tasks include all types of manual labor in handling, consolidating, unloading and loading containers for processing at site or transportation to appropriate facilities.

Primary Duties /Responsibilities
  • Consolidate hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials at designated sites utilizing appropriate equipment for which you are appropriately trained.
  • Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums and/or containers according to RCRA and disposal guidelines.
  • Assist in completing all necessary paperwork for processing materials.
  • Sample waste streams according to prescribed policies and procedures.
  • Manifesting, packaging, spill clean-up response and remedial activities, labeling, loading, off loading, and coordinating transportation.
  • Maintain a professional image to clients by answering inquiries and suggesting solutions to existing/potential problems.
  • Comply and enforce all compliance, health, safety, and procedures in accordance with VES-TS policies.
  • Become familiar with all U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT)/Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and VES-TS regulations required in submitting paperwork to expedite disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Operate and maintain all equipment in a professional manner to ensure optimum efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background
  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline preferred
  • The ability to obtain a Class B CDL

40-hour HAZWOPER and Safety training provided.
