Job summary

Veolia North America, LLC is seeking a hands-on Hazardous Waste Technician to perform daily waste handling tasks outdoors in PPE. You will consolidate materials, decontaminate containers, and assist with documentation for processing and transport.

Ideal candidates hold a HS diploma or GED with preferred chemistry background and 40-hour HAZWOPER certification. CDL with hazardous endorsement is a plus. Equal opportunity employer.

Job Description
Position Purpose

Responsible for performing a variety of daily hazardous and non-hazardous waste tasks outside while wearing personal protective equipment. Tasks include all types of manual labor in handling, consolidating, unloading and loading containers for processing at site or transportation to appropriate facilities.

Primary Duties /Responsibilities
  • Consolidate hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials at designated sites utilizing appropriate equipment for which you are appropriately trained.
  • Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums and/or containers according to RCRA and disposal guidelines.
  • Assist in completing all necessary paperwork for processing materials.
  • Sample waste streams according to prescribed policies and procedures.
  • Manifesting, packaging, spill clean-up response and remedial activities, labeling, loading, off loading, and coordinating transportation.
  • Maintain a professional image to clients by answering inquiries and suggesting solutions to existing/potential problems.
  • Comply and enforce all compliance, health, safety, and procedures in accordance with VES-TS policies.
  • Become familiar with all U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT)/Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and VES-TS regulations required in submitting paperwork to expedite disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Operate and maintain all equipment in a professional manner to ensure optimum efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background
  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline preferred

Required Certification / Licenses / Training
