Environmental Specialist

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking an Environmental Specialist for our Lab & Onsite Support Services (Lab/OSS) team. In this role you will support clients on-site by managing hazardous waste programs and projects in accordance with state and federal regulations.

The position reports to the Operations Manager and is based on site at client locations in the Raleigh/Durham area.

Responsibilities
  • Develop an understanding of OSHA regulations and Triumvirate’s health and safety practices.
  • Prepare chemical and biological waste for shipment and disposal, including creation of all federal and state waste documentation and managing the associated paperwork.
  • Safely handle hazardous waste containers on client sites, including loading and unloading of waste from vehicles.
  • Conduct safety equipment and hazardous waste inspections.
  • Occasionally perform and document environmental health and safety audits for clients.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by providing outstanding support and innovative solutions.
  • Develop a high level of state and federal regulatory expertise to ensure client compliance (e.g., RCRA, DOT, OSHA).
  • Conduct spill response measures, including assessment and cleanup efforts.
  • Rotate on-call responsibilities as part of the Emergency Response team.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the hazardous-waste industry, or relevant military experience.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, develop solutions, and implement strategies.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with clients and colleagues.
  • Willingness to work overtime regularly and flexible hours during the work week (Monday through Friday).
  • Capacity to complete a 2‑ to 3‑year professional advancement program in hazardous‑waste management.
  • Ability to handle hazardous chemicals and biological waste, including use of personal protective equipment; position is safety‑sensitive.
  • Ability to report to the Raleigh office within one hour during emergency response rotating shifts.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to consent to motor‑vehicle record screening, criminal background check, pre‑employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC).
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without future sponsorship.
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis.
Preferred Requirements
  • Prior relevant industry experience.
  • Prior successful experience in a customer‑service role.
  • Active HAZWOPER 24‑ or 40‑hour certification.
  • Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
