Job summary

The Hawk Group seeks an Environmental Specialist to ensure full compliance with current environmental regulations, the Environmental Impact Assessment, and the Environmental Monitoring Plan during project execution, guaranteeing proper planning, supervision, control and reporting of environmental and quality aspects.

The role requires a University Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering with QHSE specialization, ISO certifications, NEBOSH, and at least five years of relevant O&G or EPC

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering (Wells, Industrial, Chemical, Safety or Environmental Engineering) with specialization in QHSE.
  • Proficient in HSEQ Management Systems ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001
  • Possess certification in NEBOSH or equivalent
  • Need to comply with Fit to Work requirements for working in remote areas
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience as Environmental Specialist in O&G Drilling, EPC, or construction Projects
  • Relevant previous experience as Environmental Coordinator in Alaska and the North Slope.
  • Solid understanding of environmental legislation, environmental impact assessment, and sector-specific regulations in the North Slope
  • Ability to interpret EIAs, Environmental Monitoring Plans and technical specifications
  • 3 years of proven experience operating in Alaska

Responsibilities

  • Define Environmental Permitting Plan for Drilling activities planned in the North Slope of Alaska
  • Manage Environmental Baseline studies necessary for compliance with local regulations
  • Manage Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Assessments and NEPA processes as required for compliance with local, State, and Federal regulations
  • Manage interactions with local, State, and Federal Environmental regulatory agencies
  • Support in the identification of stakeholders and preparation of stakeholders’ management plan
  • Management of environmental programs: define environmental programs (air, waste, water, noise, soil and groundwater) and monitor progress of these programs
  • Communicate results with local authorities according to local regulations
  • Manage biodiversity action plans following Client and applicable regulations
  • Conduct audits to Wells and services contractors. Ensure effective implementation of environmental mitigation measures
  • Ensure that contractors such as Drilling and Completions, Construction, and others comply with Client and local regulatory environmental requirements
  • Perform assurance activities (auditing and inspection) of contractor’s compliance
  • Ensure compliance with local, State, and Federal Environmental requirements
  • Ensure timely response to environmental incidents, documenting the response and following up the management of any liabilities generated
  • Ensure oil spill preparedness, coordinate emergency drills
  • Prepare relevant project-specific environmental procedures.
  • Communicate environmental constraints, requirements and mitigation measures effectively to project stakeholders
  • Provide environmental technical advice as needed
  • Verify that all project activities comply with applicable environmental legislation, the Environmental Impact Assessment, and the developer’s environmental commitments.
  • Identify deviations, propose corrective measures, and ensure their implementation.
  • Coordinate and oversee the execution of all controls, measurements, and inspections established in the Environmental Monitoring Plan.
  • Ensure proper data collection, traceability, and the quality of technical reporting.
  • Review and validate the documentation generated by contractors and field teams.
  • Reporting and communication
  • Draft/review environmental compliance reports, weekly and monthly reports, and notifications to the authorities when required.
  • Maintain effective communication with the operations team, subcontractors, site management, and environmental authorities.
  • Technical support in quality and environment
  • Provide technical advice on project quality, environmental management and best practices.
  • Support the HSE department in integrating environmental criteria into procedures, training, and controls.
  • Economic management and control
  • Monitor costs associated with subcontractors linked to the PVA.
  • Verify certifications, scopes, and contractual compliance of environmental suppliers.
  • Environmental permitting
  • Prepare and manage the Environmental documentation required for authorizations, permits, notifications, and administrative procedures.
  • Prepare End Of Well Environmental Report.

Job description

Work Schedule:
  • Normal work schedule will be a dedicated 5 days’ work a week with weekends and national holidays OFF.
  • Work schedule will also be dependent on the project specific needs / requirements and could require candidate to work occasionally on weekends or on national holidays to support the operations at wellsite.
