Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a full-time Environmental Services Technician for its Charlotte area facilities. This role performs cleaning, sanitizing, and maintenance tasks to ensure a safe, healthy hospital environment on the second shift.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas including dusting and sanitizing furniture, washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents, and light fixtures.
• Sweeping, scrubbing and refinishing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpet.
• Restocking restrooms and replacing light bulbs; reporting repairs to maintenance staff.
• Most work is indoors; may assist with outdoor cleaning such as parking lot, windows, and roof.
• Maintain safe working environment and comply with infection control guidelines and quality standards.

Atrium Health is seeking a full-time Environmental Services Technician. This position promotes environmental protection by maintaining healthy and safe medical facilities for employees and visitors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following functions:

Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas to include, but not limited to:

• Dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures
• Washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents and light fixtures
• Sweeping, scrubbing and refinishing floors
• Vacuuming and shampooing carpet
• Re-stocking restrooms
• Replacing light bulbs
• Reporting repairs

Most of the work is indoors but may assist with outdoor cleaning including parking lot, windows, and roof. Various cleaning activities may include the use of a ladder.

Heavy contact with cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers and finishes.

Removes Waste By

• Collecting and transporting soiled linen
• Emptying trash containers
• Changing sharps containers
• Transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors
• Recycling material
• Emptying cigarette receptacles in smoking areas

Keeps equipment clean and orderly and reports equipment failures or other mechanical issues to maintenance staff.

Maintains safe working environment and provides quality service by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, infection control guidelines, and meeting departmental quality standards.

Attends all required in-service education and training classes including safety update programs to maintain technical knowledge.

Consistently demonstrates the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.

Qualified Candidates

• Preferred: High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Preferred: One year experience
• Can prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner

• Can establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers
