Job description

Job Description

This role provides fundamental care and services to the patient, family, and the unit environment. The scope of service encompasses patient safety, customer service, and providing a safe and clean environment for the surgical patient.

Responsibilities
  1. Completes room terminal cleaning for all areas of the OR according to AORN Standards.
  2. Calls maintenance for necessary repairs, stocks supplies in room according to standards.
  3. Proper cleaning, care, and placement of essential equipment needed for scheduled cases, such as arthroscopy pump, fluoroscopy beds, video equipment, and overhead tables.
  4. Maintains orderliness and efficiency of the work environment through cleaning utility areas, hallways, restrooms, equipment, shelves, cart racks, and scrub sinks.
  5. Provides and promotes patient and unit safety, ensuring beds, stretchers, and carts are in appropriate positions.
  6. Uses good hand washing and aseptic techniques, adheres to universal precautions, follows isolation procedures, keeps the unit clean, and disposes of waste according to hospital procedures.
  7. Corrects or reports safety hazards, knows the locations of fire alarms, extinguishers, and hoses, and handles spills according to hospital policy.
  8. Understands sterile technique.
  9. Performs all duties of EVS I and EVS II, promoting patient safety, cleaning patient rooms and discharges, and being knowledgeable of all EVS chemicals and procedures.
  10. Provides excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
  11. Performs routine floor maintenance, including use and maintenance of floor machines, auto-scrubbers, and burnishers, following guidelines for dust mopping, wet mopping, and spot mopping.
  12. Follows hospital policies and federal regulations regarding patient confidentiality and completes annual safety and confidentiality tests.
  13. Basic computer skills, including learning MS Office Outlook and passing annual Stat Tests.
  14. Performs other duties as required, attends unit meetings, in-services, and education programs, and adheres to personal appearance and conduct standards, including dress code, core values, and punctuality.
Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills: High School Diploma or G.E.D preferred; 2 years of hospital experience required; basic reading, writing, and math skills; basic healthcare housekeeping and customer service skills; computer knowledge preferred.

Licenses & Certifications: OR Tech Certification required, CHEST certification within 1 year preferred.
