Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an Environmental Services Associate at Lexington Medical Center's Environmental Services department. This full-time role operates on the 2nd shift and offers a pay range of $18.85–$28.30 per hour.

You will perform complete cleaning of assigned areas, manage waste and linen, maintain equipment, and follow infection control guidelines while working indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks and ladder use. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred; 1 year experience preferred.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas including dusting, sanitizing, washing surfaces, floors, and carpets.
• Removes waste, collects soiled linen, changes sharps containers, and transports waste.
• Maintains and reports issues with equipment; ensures safe working environment and infection control compliance.
• Attends required training and meets time schedules and deadlines.

Essential Functions

• Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas to include, but not limited to: dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures; washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents and light fixtures; sweeping, scrubbing and refinishing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpet; re-stocking restrooms; replacing light bulbs; and reporting repairs.
• Heavy contact with cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers and finishes. Majority of work is indoors but may assist with outdoor cleaning including parking lot, windows and roof. Various cleaning activities may include the use of a ladder.
• Removes waste by collecting and transporting soiled linen, emptying trash containers, changing sharps containers, transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, recycling material, and emptying cigarette receptacles in smoking areas.
• Keeps equipment associated with the job, clean and orderly, and reports equipment failures or other mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
• Maintains safe working environment and provides quality service by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, infection control guidelines, and meeting departmental quality standards.
• Attends all required in-service education and training classes including safety update programs to maintain technical knowledge.
• Consistently demonstrates the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.
