Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety and procedural guidelines. Tasks include emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing or polishing floors, using brooms, mops or powered scrubbing and waxing machines. Demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools and techniques in a healthcare environment; apply this to provide a clean and sterile environment for patients/residents and facility staff.
May be responsible for patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas to meet health standards. Wear proper protective equipment following appropriate guidelines. Keep storage, equipment and carts well‑stocked, clean and tidy. Use pagers and other technology as needed; assist in laundry areas and use technology applications as availability allows.
Physical activities include use of arms and legs, moving whole body: climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, handling materials. Ability to lift/move up to 40–50 lbs and push/pull variable weight on flat surfaces or ramps. Position requires being on feet for majority of shift; may be exposed to certain noise levels.
Working hours may vary: overtime, on call, backup call, nights, days, weekends and holidays.
