Shriners Children's in Portland, ME is seeking an Environmental Services staff member to maintain a clean, safe and sanitary patient environment. The role involves cleaning patient areas, operating suites, transport vehicles, and support spaces in a hospital setting.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of Environmental Services experience and a high school diploma or GED. The position emphasizes infection control, OSHA standards and teamwork with the OR and EVS supervisors.

• Performs wet mopping of all patient care areas, damp dusting furniture and fixtures and cleaning of air ducts and vents
• Performs terminal cleaning procedures in operating suites before and after each surgical procedure and at the end of each day
• Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, equipment, floors, doors and walls with clean, lint-free cloth and EPA-registered hospital-grade germicidal agent
• Follows required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of infectious materials in accordance with OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen Standard
• Cleans patient transport vehicles, including non-disposable straps and attachments using cloth moistened with an EPA-registered hospital grade germicidal agent
• Performs daily and as-needed cleaning of surgical support areas, including but not limited to locker rooms, staff lounge, storage areas, preop holding, post anesthesia care, and central sterile processing
• Delivers linens according to pre-established par levels
• Uses, cleans and maintains equipment and tools properly
• Communicates to the OR Director and/or EVS Supervisor all infection control issues
