Job summary

MU Health Care is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to perform cleaning tasks in a healthcare setting with emphasis on infection prevention, safety and customer service. You will clean patient care areas, restrooms, procedure rooms, public areas and ancillary spaces, handle linen and waste, and follow PPE guidelines.

This on-site role requires rotating shifts, including nights, and offers comprehensive benefits within MU Health Care in Jefferson City, MO.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine cleaning tasks in patient rooms, procedure areas, restrooms, public areas, clinics, and offices according to established protocols.
• Interacts professionally with patients, visitors, staff, and the public, using approved scripting and maintaining a service-oriented approach.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
• Follows all infection control guidelines, including the use of PPE and isolation room procedures.
• Handles soiled linen, regular waste, and medical waste in accordance with department safety standards.
• Delivers and stocks clean linen, monitors par levels, and enters data using handheld or desktop computers.
• Operates equipment such as vacuums and carts safely and reports any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor.
• Follows safety protocols when working with wet floors, ladders, and cleaning equipment to prevent accidents.
• Maintains equipment in clean, safe working condition and ensures the work area is compliant with inspection standards.
• May assist Floor Care Technicians or support team development tasks as assigned.
• May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

Compensation:

• Base Pay Range: $15.78 - $22.53 per hour, based on experience
• Shift Differentials: Additional $2.00 per hour for Night shift

Union Bid Period: 9/22/26 - 9/29/26

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. This position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position and positioning self to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees. This role may also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
