Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is seeking an Environmental Services teammate in Winston-Salem, NC for a full-time, first-shift role. You will perform comprehensive cleaning of patient and public areas, handle cleaning chemicals, and support waste disposal and equipment maintenance.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED (preferred) and 0–1 year of experience. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential, with duties performed primarily on site.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas including dusting, sanitizing, windows, floors, carpet, restrooms and light bulbs.
• Handles cleaning chemicals and disinfectants; may assist with exterior cleaning and ladder use.
• Removes waste, collects and transports soiled linen, sharps, hazardous waste and recyclables.
• Keeps equipment clean and reports maintenance issues to staff.
• Maintains safe environment and complies with infection control and department standards.
• Attends in-service trainings and meets required time schedules and deadlines.

Essential Functions

• Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas to include, but not limited to: dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures; washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents and light fixtures; sweeping, scrubbing and refinishing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpet; re-stocking restrooms; replacing light bulbs; and reporting repairs.
• Heavy contact with cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers and finishes. Majority of work is indoors but may assist with outdoor cleaning including parking lot, windows and roof. Various cleaning activities may include the use of a ladder.
• Removes waste by collecting and transporting soiled linen, emptying trash containers, changing sharps containers, transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, recycling material, and emptying cigarette receptacles in smoking areas.
• Keeps equipment associated with the job, clean and orderly, and reports equipment failures or other mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
• Maintains safe working environment and provides quality service by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, infection control guidelines, and meeting departmental quality standards.
• Attends all required in-service education and training classes including safety update programs to maintain technical knowledge.
• Consistently demonstrates the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.
