Job summary

Geisinger is seeking staff for Environmental Services to maintain a safe, clean hospital environment. You will clean patient and non-patient areas, manage waste streams, and ensure signs are posted for safe cleaning practices.

You will follow PPE protocols and hospital-approved products, supporting patient safety and quality care. Positions include shifts on days, evenings, and nights with weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare environmental services is preferred.
• Ability to follow PPE procedures and safety rules.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts including days, evenings, and nights.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects patient and non-patient areas and spaces.
• Handles various waste streams and ensures proper disposal.
• Places signage to indicate cleaning in progress and wet floors.
• Follows proper use of hospital-approved products in cleaning and disinfection.
• Reports facility repairs as directed or observed per policy.
• Utilizes mobile tech to ensure compliance with bed management and EVS tasks.
• Performs detailed cleaning (high dusting, walls, ceilings, vents, lights).
• Collects soiled linen and transports to staging area for pickup.
• Adheres to Medication Room protocol where applicable.

Job description

• Cleans and disinfects patient and non-patient facing areas, departments and spaces.
• Handles various waste streams to include but not limited to; municipal waste and recyclable waste.
• Wears standard personal protective equipment as required.
• Follows procedures for the proper use of hospital approved products utilized in the cleaning and disinfection processes.
• Places the appropriate signage in an area to indicate cleaning is occurring and floor is wet to reduce the risk of falls.
• Reports identified facility repairs as directed or observed, according to current established policy or procedure.
• Utilizes mobile technology to ensure compliance with bed management procedures and other environmental services functions that are performed daily.
• Performs detailed cleaning to include but not limited to; high dusting, walls, ceilings, tracks, vents and lights.
• Collects soiled linen and transports to hospital staging area for vendor pickup as applicable.
• All EVS Staff who enter Medication Rooms (Where Applicable) must receive mandatory education on proper Medication Room protocol.

Our EVS team provides essential healthcare environmental services 24/7—including weekends and holidays to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the hospital.

All shifts are available -- days, evenings, and nights:

• 7:00 am to 3:30 pm + weekend and holiday rotation
• 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm + weekend and holiday rotation
• 11:00 pm to 7:30 am + weekend and holiday rotation
• 4:00 am to 12:30 pm + weekend and holiday rotation
