Job summary

Cone Health seeks an Environmental Service Technician to clean and disinfect patient areas, treatment areas, restrooms, and public spaces in line with departmental standards to meet patient and guest needs.

Working under close supervision, you will help prevent illness by following environmental and infection prevention standards of regulatory agencies, document tasks, and assist in supply management and equipment upkeep.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Documents cleaning tasks on appropriate forms to record items accurately.
• Communicates effectively with the supervisor to keep them informed of current responsibilities and to resolve urgent issues.
• Monitors supply levels to balance departmental needs and budgetary goals.
• Maintains cleanliness and functioning of equipment and storage areas for efficient operations.
• Treats and removes carpet stains to maintain a clean appearance for guests and patients.
• Assists in selecting and using cleaning agents and equipment to safeguard against damage and disinfect effectively.
• Performs cleaning per departmental standards (routine and/or weekly, discharge, medication rooms, IV storage rooms, refrigerators, etc.) to meet customer needs.
• Does not touch/handle medications and is escorted in areas where narcotics are available.
• Prioritizes needs and adjusts accordingly.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Environmental Service Technician cleans and disinfects patient areas, treatment areas, restrooms, and public space in line with the departmental standards to meet the customer service needs of the hospital. Working under close supervision, this role works to prevent illness by abiding by the environmental and infection prevention standards of external regulatory agencies.

Essential Job Function:

• Documents performed cleaning tasks on the appropriate forms to record items accurately in paperwork.
• Communicates effectively with the supervisor to keep them informed of current responsibilities and resolve any complex or urgent issues.
• Assists in monitoring supply levels in order to balance departmental supply needs and budgetary goals.
• Helps maintain the cleanliness and functioning of equipment and storage areas to ensure department operations run efficiently.
• Treats and removes carpet stains as needed without prompting in order to maintain a clean appearance for guests and patients.
• Assists in the selection and use of cleaning agents and equipment to safeguard against damage and clean effectively to reduce the risk of illness.
• Performs cleaning per departmental standards (routine and/or weekly, discharge, medication rooms, IV storage rooms, refrigerators, etc.) to meet customer needs.
• Does not touch/handle medications and is escorted in areas where narcotics are available.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:
