Job summary

Avem Health Partners is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to maintain clean and orderly facilities, including patient rooms, nursing units, and common areas. You will assist in making ready rooms for incoming and discharging patients in a timely manner and help ensure high standards of quality in the facility.

The role emphasizes infection prevention, safety, and courteous interaction with patients and staff.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1-year experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to follow infection prevention and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, and common areas in a clean, sanitary manner.
  • Transports trash and hazardous waste to the appropriate disposal area and replenishes supplies.
  • Sets up meeting rooms and assists in preparing rooms for admissions and discharges.
  • Follows infection prevention practices and reports safety hazards promptly.
  • Maintains equipment properly and adheres to housekeeping standards.

JOB PURPOSE:Maintains the facility, common areas, and grounds are clean, neat and orderly condition. Responsible for achieving in the high standards of quality expected for the facility, cleaning occupied patient rooms and assisting in making ready rooms for our incoming and discharging patients in a timely manner.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department.Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators and stairways in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.Completes work assignments in a timely manner.Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.Uses and maintains equipment properly.Maintains and adheres to housekeeping detail standards.Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.Always introduces self to patients, families and visitors.Reports safety hazards as appropriate.Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.Replenishes supplies.Follows all infection prevention and control practices, including Standard Precautions, Transmission-Based Precautions and hand hygiene.Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.Works day, evening or night shift as assigned.Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.Observes safety precautions at all times.Wears identification while on duty; uses the computerized punch time system correctly.Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, health plans and staff.Removes soiled linen.Delivers and unloads clean linens.Sets up meeting rooms as needed.Other duties as requested.BEHAVIORAL STANDARDSThe individual must support the mission, vision, and goals of Avem Health Partners and serve as a role model within the company.Exhibit positive customer service behavior in every day work interactions.Demonstrate a courteous and respectful attitude to internal workforce and external customers.Communicate accurately and appropriately.Handle difficult situations in a discreet and professional manner.Hold self-accountable for professional practice.Participate in performance improvement activities utilizing principles to support and improve departmental goals.Demonstrate knowledge of unit goals and is active in committees and projects to achieve these goals.Keep current with literature regarding changing practices, interventions and best practices.Assume responsibility for seeking out educational and professional opportunities for personal learning needs and growth as well as meeting mandatory education requirements.Act as a preceptor as requested.Demonstrate excellent work attendance and actively participate in a variety of meetings and training sessions as required.Adhere to the Avem Health Partners Code of Conduct and Standards of Behavior. Complies with established policies and procedures and all health and safety requirements.EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or GED preferred.1-year experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duties satisfactorily.
