Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a full-time Environmental Services worker at Carolinas Medical Center: Mercy in Charlotte, NC. The 1st shift involves routine cleaning tasks, following a 7-step process, bed remakes after discharge, and maintaining floors and fixtures.

Pay ranges from $18.85 to $28.30 per hour for a 40-hour work week. Ideal candidates will follow safety procedures, perform on-the-job cleaning duties, and participate in benefits programs offered by Advocate Health.

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and complete written forms.
• Related experience preferred; on-the-job training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine cleaning tasks in assigned area, following a 7-step cleaning process and remaking beds after discharge.
• Maintains floors and carpets according to the maintenance schedule.
• Cleans fixtures, furnishings, walls, woodwork, floors, stairwells, interior windows, elevators/tracks, and exterior equipment.
• Empties trash, wipes/relines containers, and operates compactor if needed.
• Replenishes disposable items such as soap, toilet paper, and towels.
• Moves and resets furnishings to original locations after job completion.

Essential Functions

• Performs routine tasks in assigned area, follows a 7-Step cleaning process and the remaking of beds after disinfecting during discharge cleaning.
• Performs routine tasks in assigned area, follows maintenance schedule for floors and carpets.
• Cleans fixtures, furnishings, walls, woodwork, floors, stairwells, interior windows, elevators/tracks, and exteriors of equipment.
• Empties trash, wipes and relines containers, operating compactor if necessary.
• Replenishes all disposable items such as soap, toilet paper, paper towels.
• Moves and resets furnishings to original locations following completion of job.

Physical Requirements
Requires continuous walking, bending, stooping, lifting up to 50-pounds; also pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing ladders that is generally inside. Contact with water and cleaning solution, potentially contaminated waste, including sharps and other bio-hazardous waste. Based on the physical requirements for this position all applicants for this position are required to undergo a physical ability test as a condition of employment.

Education, Experience and Certifications
