Stephens Memorial Hospital seeks an environmental services worker to clean and sanitize designated areas, replenish supplies, and maintain floors across the campus. You will follow infection control practices and HIPAA guidelines while handling waste and linens.
The role requires flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and all shifts, with attentiveness to patient confidentiality. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, assisting with event setup, and supporting overall cleanliness
Position Summary:Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing designated areas within the Stephens Memorial Hospital campus.Replenishes supplies in all areas of the hospital, maintains floor care in the hospital/clinics and collects and distributes linens. Areas must meet the highest quality standard for cleanliness and infection control.
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and basic numbers. Ability to speak simple sentences. Ability to read, write and speak the English language fluently.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
No supervisory duties.
Strength Guidelines: Must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds on a daily basis and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Motion Parameters: Frequently required to stand, walk, push/pull equipment; use arm, leg and back muscles for extended periods; use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and extended arms; climb, stoop, kneel or crouch; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
Vision and Hearing Requirements: Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Hearing abilities required include hearing overhead paging system; noise level is moderate.
Work Environment: Regularly exposed to toxic/caustic chemicals, hazardous materials and waste; frequently works near moving mechanical parts, is exposed to wet, humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electric shock or vibration; occasionally works in outside weather conditions. This position is classified as an OSHA category 1 position:exposed to a specific hazard as a regular part of the job.
Emotional Demands:Must be able to manage difficult or emotional patient situations including the ability to respond promptly to patient or co-worker needs and requests for service and assistance.
