Job summary

Salinas Valley Health Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services worker for the night shift. You will perform cleaning, stock supplies, and maintain orderly areas throughout the hospital to ensure a sanitary and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities include floor care, carpet maintenance, trash handling, and assisting in setup for meetings and rooms as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Licensure: Valid Driver's License required. California Department of Transportation Medical Waste certificate required. New hires/transfers have 90 days from date of hire/transfer to obtain DOT Medical Waste Certificate.
• Experience: Preferred but not required.

• Cleans and restocks all carts and equipment at the end of shift.
• Cleans assigned areas by performing duties per department policies and procedures.
• Dust mops, wet mops, and/or buffs the floors using automatic equipment.
• Vacuums carpets, moving furniture and equipment as needed.
• Strip and resurface hard floors.
• Shampoo, bonnet buff and extract carpets.
• Load, unload, and transport furniture, equipment and trash cans.
• Clean outside trash area, sweep entrances, wash windows.
• Clean walls, vents, furnishings, fixtures, ceilings and other surfaces as directed.

Work under the supervision of Environmental Services/Assistant Director/Supervisors. Performs a wide variety of highly demanding physical activities to assist in maintaining the hospital in a clean, sanitary, organized and attractive condition for patients, employees and visitors. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Primary Duties:

• Selects and obtains materials and supplies from designated area, stocks cart and reports to assigned areas.
• Cleans and restocks all carts and equipment at the end of shift.
• Cleans assigned areas by performing duties per department policies and procedures.
• Dust mops, wet mops, and/or buffs the floors using automatic equipment.
• Vacuums carpets, moving furniture and equipment as needed.
• Strip and resurface hard floors.
• Shampoo, bonnet buff and extract carpets.
• Load, unload, and transport furniture, equipment and trash cans.
• Clean outside trash area, sweep entrances, wash windows.
• Clean walls, vents, furnishings, fixtures, ceilings and other surfaces as directed.
• Reports any unsafe or hazardous conditions immediately to supervisor.
• Collect, transport and store infectious waste materials.
• Collect and transport soiled linen throughout the facility and delivers to the Soiled Utility Room.
• Assists in performing meeting room and basic Conference Room set ups utilizing department procedures.
• Change curtains and drapes as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Pay Range: The hourly rate for this position is $27.06 - $29.83. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
