Job summary

UES is seeking an Environmental Department Manager to lead and oversee environmental projects and the Environmental Services department. You will supervise staff, ensure quality project delivery, manage client relationships, and contribute to business development.

The role entails coordinating work, mentoring staff, reviewing technical reports, and interfacing with accounting on budgets; travel is occasional. Approximately 80% office, 20% field.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Geologist (PG) license preferred.
  • 10+ years of environmental engineering or consulting experience.
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification, AHERA certification, and annual refreshers.
  • Valid driver's license with clean record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate project work by assigning resources.
  • Serve as primary client contact for scheduling, issues, and invoicing.
  • Supervise environmental professionals, specialists, and technicians on ESAs (Phase I-III).
  • Build and maintain client relationships and support business development.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor department staff.
  • Review and edit technical reports and prepare deliverables.
  • Spend ~80% of time in office on writing/data analysis and ~20% in the field.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and manage field health and safety.
