Job summary

Park Springs Communities in Stone Mountain, GA, seeks an Environmental Services & Laundry Manager to lead the Environmental Services and Laundry Departments, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and timely linen services across the community.

The role provides direction to Supervisors, Laundry Technicians, and other staff, with responsibility for staffing, scheduling, training, and quality assurance while maintaining OSHA compliance and vendor relationships.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate/bachelor’s preferred.
  • Minimum of three years in environmental services, housekeeping, laundry, hospitality, or facilities-related experience.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience required.
  • Experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, long-term care, or similar service environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping and commercial laundry procedures, sanitation standards, infection prevention, cleaning chemicals, linen management, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements, bloodborne pathogen precautions, chemical safety, and PPE practices.
  • Strong leadership, training, coaching, and accountability abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Basic budgeting, purchasing, inventory management, labor management, and vendor relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to interact with older adults, families, vendors, and leadership.
  • Proficiency with computers and standard business applications.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee daily operations of Environmental Services and Laundry Departments.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and supervision to supervisors and frontline staff.
  • Ensure staffing and scheduling based on occupancy, workload, and events.
  • Participate in interviewing, onboarding, training, evaluating, coaching, and performance management.
  • Maintain residences, common areas, offices, restrooms, corridors, and other spaces to cleanliness standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections for quality and consistency.
  • Oversee Laundry Department operations, ensuring efficient and safe linen processing.
  • Ensure adherence to infection prevention and sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, infection control, policies, and regulations.
  • Develop and manage operating budgets in collaboration with leadership.
  • Monitor expenses, labor costs, overtime, supplies, linen replacement, and equipment expenditures.
  • Promote teamwork, engagement, and a positive work environment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, productivity, quality, safety, and cost.
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding linen and laundry needs.

Job Title: Environmental Services & Laundry Manager

Position Overview

The Environmental Services & Laundry Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, organization, and daily operation of the Environmental Services and Laundry Departments at Park Springs. This position ensures that member residences, common areas, offices, public spaces, and other assigned areas are maintained at the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, appearance, and safety while ensuring efficient and reliable laundry and linen services throughout the community.

The Manager provides leadership and direction to Environmental Services Supervisors, House Stewards, Laundry Technicians, Sanitation Technicians, and other assigned employees. This position is responsible for departmental staffing, scheduling, training, performance management, quality assurance, inspections, infection prevention, laundry operations, linen management, supplies, equipment, vendor relationships, budget oversight, and continuous improvement.

The Environmental Services & Laundry Manager maintains a visible presence throughout the community, develops positive relationships with members and employees, responds promptly to service concerns, and works collaboratively with other departments to maintain the cleanliness, comfort, safety, and overall appearance of Park Springs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee the daily operations of the Environmental Services and Laundry Departments.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and supervision to Environmental Services Supervisors and frontline employees.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and appropriate scheduling based on occupancy, workload, special events, member needs, and departmental priorities.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, evaluating, coaching, and performance management of Environmental Services and Laundry employees.
  • Ensure member residences, common areas, offices, restrooms, corridors, elevators, meeting spaces, and other assigned areas are maintained according to established cleanliness standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections of member residences, common areas, and employee work to verify quality and consistency.
  • Direct and oversee the daily operations of the Park Springs Laundry Department, ensuring efficient, safe, and timely processing of linens and other assigned laundry.
  • Ensure employees follow established infection prevention and sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain departmental compliance with OSHA requirements, infection control practices, community policies, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and manage the Environmental Services and Laundry operating budget in collaboration with leadership.
  • Monitor departmental expenses, labor costs, overtime, supplies, linen replacement, and equipment expenditures.
  • Promote teamwork, employee engagement, and a positive work environment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve laundry processes, productivity, quality, safety, and cost effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with Environmental Services, Dining Services, Home Care, Wellness, Assisted Living, and other departments regarding linen and laundry needs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Environmental Services, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of Environmental Services, housekeeping, laundry, hospitality, or facilitiesrelated experience required.

  • Experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, longterm care, or a similar serviceoriented environment strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping and commercial laundry procedures, sanitation standards, infection prevention practices, cleaning chemicals, linen management, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements, bloodborne pathogen precautions, chemical safety, and appropriate PPE practices.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to train, coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
  • Strong organizational and timemanagement skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to develop and manage employee schedules and departmental workloads.
  • Basic knowledge of budgeting, purchasing, inventory management, labor management, and vendor relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with older adults, families, employees, vendors, and leadership.
  • Proficiency with computers and standard business applications.
  • Must demonstrate discretion and maintain member confidentiality at all times.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods while conducting inspections and supervising departmental operations.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and perform other movements associated with Environmental Services and Laundry operations.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to operate or demonstrate the safe use of housekeeping and laundry equipment.
  • May be exposed to cleaning chemicals, laundry chemicals, bodily fluids, infectious materials, offensive odors, dust, heat, and other conditions commonly associated with Environmental Services and Laundry operations.
  • May be required to wear gloves, masks, eye protection, or other personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to respond to operational needs throughout the Park Springs campus.
  • May occasionally be required to work outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, or during emergencies based on community needs.
