Department: 11906 Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center - Environmental Services
Status: Part time
Benefits Eligible: Yes
Hours Per Week: 20
Schedule Details/Additional Information: 5pm to 1:30am, rotating weekends and holidays
Pay Range: $19.80 - $29.70

Major Responsibilities
  • Scrub, strips, polishes and refinishes floors using appropriate equipment and/or supplies.
  • Operates various types of cleaning equipment, both mechanical and electrical, i.e. ringers, vacuum, electric floor machines, sweepers, etc.
  • 6)Clean or sanitize after emergency spill as requested.
  • 1)Analyzes floor or carpet conditions and determines proper cleaning techniques, following departmetn processes.
  • 2)Maintains hard surface floors and carpets following department process.
  • 3)Exhibits timely and satisfactory completion of all job assignments.
  • 4)Exercises initiative by seeking additional tasks from group leader or other associates when time permits.
  • 5)Uses and maintains equipment, keeping clean and in good repair.
  • Keeps work area in orderly, clean and safe condition.
  • Waste must be disposed of in a timely manner to assure hospital cleanliness.
  • 5)Collects hazardous and medical waste according to hospital processes/DOT/RSPA training provided hazardous and pharmaceutical.
  • 6)Replaces and transports sharps containers to waste staging area.
  • 7)Collects soiled linen.
  • 1)Removal and disposal of rubbish from selected areas, following safety guidelines.
  • 2)Separates regular and recycle trash according to procedure.
  • 3)Operates waste compactors safety and efficiently.
  • 4)Clean and/or sanitizes all garbage/waste disposal containers.

  • 4)Displays patient and tact when dealing with other hospital personnel.
  • 5)Presents department in a positive manner to all contacts.

Provides support for the following services
  • Arranges furniture for meeting, workshops and community affairs according to specification of responsible department/individual as required.
  • Relocate furniture, equipment, etc., as requested.
  • Completes terminal cleans as needed.
  • Completes discharge room clean following hospital process.
  • Completes OR cleaning following hospital processes.

Cross-trained on discharge room cleans and OR cleaning to accommodate Hospital needs during peak periods or staffing needs, and complete Housekeeping Aide duties as needed.

Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and competence
  • Attends all mandatory departmental and hosptial meetings and in-services.
  • Completes annual CBT's required.
  • Follows written department goals and objectives, and review annually with Manager.
  • Seeks education and learning experiences in areas of identified growth needs and review progress during annual evaluation.
Maintains responsibility for attendance and punctuality
  • Maintains proper attendance requirement outlined in the Hospital Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Plans for special days off in advance and submits written requests for time off to department management for approval per departmental guidelines.
  • Requests PTO time in accordance with departmental policy.
  • Provide adequate notice to department management absences, and in a ccordance to departmental policy calls two hours prior tothe beginning of shift.
Education/Experience Required

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience 1-2 years experience with prior housekeeping experience preferred Basic computer skills perferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Able to operate small electrical equipment i.e., vacuum cleaners
  • Excellenct customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English as related to the performance of the essential job activities outlined (including reading and comprehending chemical labels andother safety materials)

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Job responsibilities involve walking, standing, bending, climbing and lifting throughout the work day. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds iwthout assistance. For lifts over 35 pounds, lifting equipment is expected to be used or lift with at least one other associte when available.
