Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a dependable Environmental Services Technician to help maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and caregivers at our Wilmington, DE campus. You will clean and disinfect patient areas, manage waste and linen, and support infection prevention and safety standards throughout the hospital.

The position starts at $17.80 per hour, with increases to $20.90 after six months and $21.93 after one year of continuous employment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain patient rooms, offices, public spaces, and ancillary hospital areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Clean, disinfect, and service precaution/isolation rooms in accordance with infection control policies and procedures.
• Collect and remove trash and soiled linen from assigned areas.
• Transport bulk trash to designated compactor areas.
• Replenish paper products, soap, and other essential supplies throughout the hospital.
• Maintain Environmental Services carts, equipment, and storage closets in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
• Respond promptly to Environmental Services phone calls, text messages, and work assignments.
• Log into required applications and ensure assigned communication devices are operational at the start of each shift.
• Attend departmental training sessions and required in-service programs.
• Report maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, safety hazards, and unsafe conditions to leadership in a timely manner.
• Maintain a professional, courteous, and customer-focused attitude when interacting with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
• Follow all departmental safety rules, infection prevention standards, and hospital policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

In this role, you will be responsible for cleaning and disinfecting patient care and non-patient care areas, managing waste and linen removal, replenishing supplies, and supporting infection prevention and safety standards throughout the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain patient rooms, offices, public spaces, and ancillary hospital areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Clean, disinfect, and service precaution/isolation rooms in accordance with infection control policies and procedures.

This position has a starting rate of $17.80 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.90 per hour. This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
