Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital is seeking an Environmental Services Area Cleaner I to join our EVS team. You will maintain clean, safe patient areas in a 148-bed community hospital, working evenings 3:00pm–11:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays.

You’ll learn departmental policies and cleaning techniques through on-the-job training and work closely with caregivers to support patient comfort and safety while upholding hospital standards and infection control protocols.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow directions while working with minimal supervision
• Can learn and follow departmental policies and procedures, including cleaning and patient hospitality techniques and the proper use and storage of cleaning agents and chemicals
• Clear, courteous and caring communication skills
• Can work effectively in a fast-paced cleaning environment
• Flexibility to adapt to changing work assignments and priorities

Responsibilities

• Clean patient rooms, ancillary areas, exam rooms, offices, waiting areas, public restrooms, discharge rooms and other assigned areas.
• Stock paper items and other supplies in patient rooms, exam rooms, and restrooms.
• Follow scripting, policies and procedures on patient isolation and all Environmental Services technical and procedural standard operating procedures.
• Follow and adhere to all hospital-wide and departmental safety requirements.
• Complete one to three months of on-the-job training to learn departmental policies and procedures, various cleaning techniques and proper use and storage of cleaning agents and chemicals.

The Environmental Services Area Cleaner role is a steppingstone to other careers within Environmental Services and other departments within Cleveland Clinic.

A caregiver in this position worksMonday-Friday, 3:00pm—11:30pm.Rotating weekends and holidays.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• A high school diploma or GED

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion, including ability to perform work while lifting, bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, and reaching.
• Requires continuous walking and standing on hard surfaces.
• Requires regular handling and use of disinfectants and other cleaning agents and chemicals.
• Light work – Exerting 11 to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
