Job summary

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is hiring an Environmental Services Aide for our Montvale, NJ location (225 Summit Ave, Montvale, NJ 07645). This part-time position offers evening hours (7pm–11pm) with every other weekend and rotating holidays, totaling 20 hours per week.

Training provided; no prior ES experience required. Responsibilities include daily cleaning, waste handling, and room setup support.

Qualifications

• No prior Environmental Services experience required; will provide training.
• Ability to operate or learn floor-cleaning equipment.
• Capable of lifting at least 30 lbs.
• Basic computer knowledge to support communication and training.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning following Seven Step Cleaning Guidelines.
• Safely remove general waste and soiled linen.
• Handle and mix cleaning chemicals per safety standards.
• Use equipment such as cardboard baler and trash compactor safely.
• Support unit operations with small moves or setups.
• Participate in department meetings and trainings.
• Complete additional projects as directed by leadership.
• Share ideas to improve efficiency, safety, and workflow.

Role Overview:

• Perform daily and thorough cleaning using the Seven Step Cleaning Guidelines in the Environmental Services Aide (ESA) Manual


• Safely remove general, infectious waste and soiled linen following hospital procedures and safety guidelines


• Handle and mix cleaning chemicals according to safety and infection control standards


• Use equipment such as the cardboard baler and trash compactor properly and safely


• Support unit operations by completing small moves or room setups as needed


• Participate in department meetings and required training sessions


• Complete additional projects or assignments as directed by leadership


• Share ideas for improving efficiency, safety, and workflow as part of MSK's culture of continuous improvement

Key Qualifications:

• No prior Environmental Services experience required - if you meet the basic qualifications and bring the right mindset, we'll provide the training you need to succeed


• Ability to operate or learn to use floor-cleaning equipment and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and pushing for extended periods


• Capable of lifting at least 30 lbs


• Basic computer knowledge to support communication and training
