Job summary

MercyOne Northeast Iowa is hiring an Environmental Services Tech to clean and disinfect patient care areas and public spaces in accordance with cleanliness standards. Join the MercyOne Family and support the health system by maintaining a sanitary environment.

Responsibilities include patient room cleaning, preparing administrative areas, keeping the area and equipment neat and safe, and contributing to overall department efficiency. Schedule is 6:30 am – 3:00 pm with weekend/holiday rotations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and understand English and communicate with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.
• Must have a valid Iowa driver’s license and an acceptable MVR if driving.
• Basic computer skills and ability to work with a large degree of independence.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient/resident room cleaning to ensure clean and sanitary environment.
• Performs cleaning in administrative and support areas.
• Maintains neat, orderly work area and equipment, cart and closet.
• Contributes to safety, security and efficiency of the department.
• Demonstrates proper floor cleaning procedures and proper equipment care.
• Keeps equipment clean and ready for use.

As an Environmental Services Tech at MercyOne, you will clean and disinfect the patient care areas and public areas of MercyOne Northeast Iowa in accordance with cleanliness standards. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.

• Performs patient/resident room cleaning to ensure clean and sanitary environment.
• Performs cleaning in administrative and support areas.
• Performs special functions and requirements to ensure work area is maintained in a neat and
• orderly manner and available for use.
• Keeps equipment clean/cart and closet clean, orderly and operational.
• Contributes to the safety, security and efficiency of the department.
• Demonstrates proper floor cleaning procedures and proper equipment care.

Schedule

• 6:30 am – 3:00 pm but can vary. Weekend and holiday rotation.

General Requirements

• Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians while performing their job duties.
• Mandatory Reporter. If driving, need valid Iowa driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
• Ability to work with a large degree of independence.
• Must display professional image.
• Ability to be sensitive to customer needs.
• Basic computer skills.
