Job summary

Northern Light Mercy Hospital in Portland, ME is seeking an Environmental Service Tech I for the evening shift. You will perform 7 Step cleaning across patient rooms and facilities, following discharge procedures and infection control guidelines to ensure a safe, clean environment.

The role supports patient care areas, uses proper chemicals and equipment, and assists with waste disposal and supply replenishment during the evening schedule (3:30 PM–12:00 AM or 5:00 PM–1:00 AM).

Responsibilities

• Performs 7 Step cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units/offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, and rest rooms.
• Follows discharge cleaning procedures as written.
• Follow infection control guidelines when cleaning precaution rooms.
• Uses and maintains the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedures.
• Uses and maintains equipment properly.
• Removes trash, biomedical wastes and soiled linen from patient rooms to disposal areas for Porter pickup.
• Replenishes paper supplies, bedside and bio bags as needed.

Summary:

Under the direction of the Director, Safety & Environmental Services, the Environmental Technician/Porter is responsible for cleaning all areas of the hospital according to policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Performs 7 Step cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units/offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges,and rest rooms
• Follows discharge cleaning procedures as written
• Follow infection control guidelines when cleaning precaution rooms
• Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedures.
• Uses and maintains equipment properly.
• Removes trash, biomedical wastesand soiled linen from patient rooms to appropriate disposal areas for Porter pick up.
• Replenishes paper supplies, bedside and bio bags as needed.
• Makes additional rounds for trash removal in patient rooms
