Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking a hospital housekeeping teammate to maintain sanitary and orderly patient areas under supervision. You will gather supplies, clean rooms, and ensure beds are remade with fresh linen on discharge, adhering to safety and policy guidelines.

The role emphasizes courteous interaction with patients, visitors, and staff while performing duties efficiently. Strong team collaboration and time-management skills are essential as you support the daily operations of the hospital

Qualifications

• Assembles cleaning supplies and equipment and transports them to areas as assigned.
• Cleans assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing and polishing.
• Notifies team leader of maintenance repairs needed in assigned areas.
• Cleans and stores equipment regularly in porter closet or storage area.
• Discharges rooms per protocol and remakes beds with fresh linen when required.

Under direct supervision, maintains an assigned area of the hospital in a sanitary and orderly condition in accordance with departmental and regulatory agency policies, procedures and standards.Skills:Ability to work well under time constraints and to work effectively as a team member.Ability to courteously greet and exchange information with patients, visitors and staff while performing housekeeping tasks.Patient & Workplace Safety:Employee has knowledge and understanding of patient and workforce safety as it relates to job duties.Patient Population:Demonstrates competency in the delivery of care and applies the knowledge to meet age-specific needs if applicable.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:• Assembles necessary cleaning supplies and equipment; loads utility cart and transports same to works areas after receiving instructions as to area and specific work assignment.• Cleans assigned areas by performing a variety of housekeeping duties. Duties include, but not limited to; cleaning, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing, polishing, etc. Inspects area upon completion of cleaning to ensure appropriate levels of cleanliness have been achieved.• Prepares cleaning solutions according to written instructions on label.• Performs routine discharge room cleaning per established guidelines and protocols in established time frames including removing soiled linen from discharge rooms and remakes beds with fresh linen in prescribed manner.• Notifies team leader of needed maintenance repairs in assigned.• Cleans and stores equipment regularly in porter closet or assigned storage area.• Logs on and off Interserv per GBMC policy.
