Job summary

AECOM actively seeks an Environmental Scientist to join the Environmental Remediation group in Denver, CO. You will work on site assessments, remedial and solid waste design, and multi-disciplinary environmental support under experienced supervision.

The role involves field and office work with potential for growth, traveling regionally and coordinating with engineers and scientists to ensure regulatory compliance and project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in environmental sciences or engineering or related field required.
• 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination required.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass MVR.
• US Citizenship or permanent resident required.
• Pre-employment background check required.
• Pre-employment substance abuse test required.

Responsibilities

• Performs standard scientific work applying techniques and procedures.
• Identifies issues when standard procedures fail due to samples or equipment.
• Conduces phases of projects for more experienced scientists.
• Proposes analytical methods and provides consulting within scientific scope.
• Draws conclusions and makes recommendations from analysis.
• Interprets data, compares findings to studies and regulations for compliance.
• Mentors and leads junior staff.
• Leads teams in project work and field work.
• Travel exceeding 50% may be required within 1–2 hours of Ft. Collins, Denver, or Greeley.
• Day travel regionally required.

Job Description

AECOMis actively seeking a highly motivated Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Remediation group in Denver, CO. We are seeking a candidate who is an excellent communicator and technically capable, with an awareness of relevant regulations. The successful candidate will work under the oversight of an experienced team of engineers and scientists on environmental site assessments, remedial and solid waste design and construction, and environmental support on multi-disciplinary projects. This position will involve field and office responsibilities with potential for growth.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
• Detect problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.
• Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.
• Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
• Draw conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.
• Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
• Mentors and leader to more junior staff.
• Lead teams of staff in carrying out project specific work and field work.
• Flexible with working extended hours and locations,travel may be greater than 50 percent of time, however within 1 to 2 hours of Ft. Collins, Denver, and/or Greeley.
• Must be able to do day travel regionally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in environmental sciences or engineering or other related fields, AND 6yearsof relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass MVR.
• Subject to a pre-employmentBackground check.
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
• Due to some of the sites, US Citizenship or a permanent resident is required,

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree preferred and/or 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer License.
• Upstream oil and gas experience.
• Willingness and ability to work outdoors in sometimes challenging conditions.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable liaising with clients, colleagues and sub-contractors alike.
• Willingness and ability to learn and rapidly master new tasks.
• Scientific research and report writing (including web-based research).
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Strong quality and time management.
• Self-starter, develops and delivers work under own initiative.
• Solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work.
• Seeking professional certifications.
• 40hr OSHA HAZWOPER certificate.
• Microsoft Office, AutoCADD, GIS applications.
