Job summary

Onterris is hiring for an environmental professional to lead field investigations and perform regulatory surveys across projects in the Tennessee region.

You will conduct asbestos surveys, lead-based paint assessments, and Phase I/II ESAs, while coordinating subcontractors and ensuring data quality for regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or related scientific field.
  • 4+ years of experience in environmental investigations and leading field efforts.
  • Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act and State of Tennessee accredited asbestos building inspector.
  • State of Tennessee licensed lead-based paint inspector and risk assessor.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.

  • Leads field efforts and guides junior staff on data collection and documentation for regulatory programs.
  • Conducts storm water inspections for construction and industrial sites.
  • Analyzes analytical data to identify data gaps and adjust investigative approaches.
  • Coordinates subcontractors for asbestos surveys and related remedial work.
  • Prepares reports, tables, maps, drawings, and visuals to support project recommendations.
  • Conducts ASTM-compliant Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Interfaces with federal, municipal, and private sector clients.

The compensation range for this role is $75,000 to $90,000 commensuratewith experience, skills, and geographic location.


To thrive in this role,you’llbe comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:



  • Working alongside the project manager, designs and implements sampling plans for small-to-large field investigations.


  • Performs asbestos-containing material and lead-based paint surveys, including the use of XRF analyzers.


  • Leads field efforts and provides guidance to junior staff regarding field data collection methodologies/protocols and documentation associated with RCRA, CERCLA, and state environmental cleanup programs.


  • Conducts storm water inspections for construction and industrial sites.


  • Analyzes, evaluates, and provides interpretation of analytical data to identify data gaps and recommends changes to the investigative approach.


  • Procures and coordinates subcontractors in the performance of asbestos surveys, lead-based paint surveys, direct push/drilling investigations, and implementation of remedial measures.


  • With a focus on quality, prepares reports, tables, maps, drawings, and visual aids to evaluate, plan and obtain regulatory approval on project recommendations.


  • Conducts ASTM-compliant Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.


  • Interfaces and develops rapport with federal, municipal, and private sector clients.


  • Exercises safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.


  • Participates in the company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.


  • Keeps up-to-date and current on industry methodologies and trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.


  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or related scientific field


  • 4+ years of experience, including the performance of environmental investigations and leading field efforts


  • Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act and State of Tennessee accredited asbestos building inspector


  • State of Tennessee licensed lead-based paint inspector and risk assessor


  • State of Tennessee Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Level 1 Training (preferred)


  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification


  • Valid driver’s license, ability to travel and obtain security clearance at federal installations.


  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite


  • Knowledge of computer aided software (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.)


  • The ability to work under physically demanding conditions, e.g., canvassing large project areas by foot on various terrain and potentially in hot or otherwise inclement weather.   • The position will involve travel, though primarily within Florida.
