Job summary

Atlas is seeking an Environmental Scientist (EIR Scientist) to join our Murfreesboro, TN team, performing both in-office and fieldwork to support environmental projects.

You will conduct site investigations, collect samples, manage data, and prepare technical reports while coordinating with clients and teammates. A BS in a related field and 2–5 years of experience are preferred, with TN experience advantageous.

The role offers growth, safety training, and opportunities for travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • BS in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
  • 2-5 years of related environmental consulting experience, TN-specific experience preferred.
  • Experience with Phase 1 and Phase 2 Site assessments, USTs, commercial and industrial sites, Stormwater (EPSC).
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
  • Independent work with teamwork; valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and strong written/oral communication.
  • Preferred 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Willingness for overnight travel (in-state) ~20% and local travel 2-3 hrs several times per week.

Responsibilities

  • Perform site investigations to support environmental projects, including sampling and data collection.
  • Conduct field activities such as soil, soil vapor and groundwater sampling, boring installations, and tank work.
  • Manage and analyze sampling data, compile summary tables, interpret results, and map sample locations.
  • Assist clients with environmental regulatory compliance, permitting, industrial hygiene and health and safety matters.
  • Prepare technical reports including proposals, work plans, environmental reports, permit applications, and health & safety plans.
  • Organize and prioritize workload; maintain accurate records.

Job Description

We are seeking an Environmental Scientist (EIR Scientist) to join our Murfreesboro, TN team! Our business lines include traditional Environmental consulting for both public and private clients. Core Responsibilities
  • Performance of site investigations to support environmental projects, including the collection of samples and environmental data.
  • Conduct and document field activities such as soil, soil vapor and groundwater sampling, installation of soil borings and monitoring wells, and tank excavations and/or removals.
  • Management and analysis of sampling data, including summary tables, result interpretation, and sample location maps.
  • Assisting clients with a variety of environmental, health, and safety needs, including environmental regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, industrial hygiene, and health and safety matters.
  • Preparing technical reports including but not limited to proposals, work plans, environmental reports, permit applications, and health & safety plans.
  • Organizing and prioritize a diverse workload; maintain accurate records.

  • BS in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
  • 2-5 years of related environmental consulting experience, TN-specific experience preferred.
  • Experience with Phase 1 and Phase 2 Site assessments, other site investigations including UST’s, commercial and industrial sites, Stormwater (EPSC).
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple assignments, prioritizing and delegating activities, and delivering on tight deadlines.
  • Capable of working independently, under direct supervision of others, and in a team-orientated environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
  • Commitment to safety.
  • Microsoft PC applications; WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint, TEAMS
  • Strong technical, analytical, and research skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Preferred 40-Hour HAZWOPER
  • Ability for overnight travel (typically in-state) as needed (average 20%).
  • Local Travel up to 2-3 hrs. multiple times per week. Ability to perform moderately strenuous tasks.
  • Ability to work independently in rural and metro environments.
  • Experience with Asbestos and other building Sciences issues is preferred
  • Technical writing skills are required
