Job summary

Warren Wilson College is seeking a full-time, continuing Assistant Professor of Environmental Science in the Environmental Studies and Data Science Department. The position begins August 1, 2027, with a 24-credit annual teaching load and a 10-month extended contract.

The successful candidate will teach introductory and specialty Environmental Science courses, advise students, mentor undergraduate research, and collaborate with the WWC Center for Working Lands, contributing to the College’s

Qualifications

• PhD in Environmental Science or related field (ABD will be considered).
• One year of successful teaching experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching and working with diverse student populations.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and scholarship.

Responsibilities

• Teach 24 credit hours (6 courses) per academic year.
• Provide academic and career advising to Environmental Science students.
• Mentor student research projects within the Natural Science Undergraduate Research Sequence.
• Collaborate with the Farm, Forest, and Landscape managers to integrate working lands into teaching and research.
• Participate in and contribute to the Environmental Studies Department operations.
• Contribute to the college’s General Education Program, as appropriate.
• Provide service to the college, as well as ongoing professional development and scholarly activity.
