  • Participates in faculty meetings, conferences and teacher training workshops.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by school administration.

Performance Responsibilities/ Essential Functions

An environmental science teacher educates students on the impact of human activities on natural ecosystems, covering issues like climate change, pollution, and sustainability. They design curricula, conduct lab or field work, and evaluate student performance.

  • Instructs students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using technology aids and other materials to supplement presentations.
  • Prepares course objectives, curriculum, resources and outline for course of study following guidelines or requirements of state and school.
  • Assigns lessons and corrects homework.
  • Administers tests to evaluate pupil progress, record results, and issues grades and/or reports to inform parents of progress.
  • Keeps accurate attendance records.
  • Maintains classroom discipline.
  • Meets with parents to discuss student progress and opportunities.
  • Participates in faculty professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested by school administration

Reports To: School Principal

Terms of Employment: 10 months

Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in environmental science, biology, ecology, or a closely related field - preferred
  • State-issued teaching licensure (e.g., in Louisiana, a valid Level 1 or Type C certificate is required for public schools) - preferred
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, analytical skills for lab work, and a thorough understanding of current environmental legislation and scientific data.
