Job description

Position Overview

Environmental Safety Coordinator – responsible for the environmental management of Poudre School District. Resolve issues regarding the educational and occupational environment involving potential, known, or suspected hazards. Assist in developing policies and guidelines related to occupational health and safety, maintain environmental compliance, coordinate recycling and pest control, and act as liaison with agencies for fire, health, and emergency situations.

Pay Range: $76,312–$85,469 per year based on qualifications and experience.

  • Duration of position: Ongoing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the district’s asbestos program, including inspection, collection, storage, disposal, chain‑of‑custody forms, manifests, payments, and records.
  • Manage the district’s solid waste program: trash, recycling, composting.
  • Manage the integrated pest management program with economic and environmental practices.
  • Implement sustainability practices in all job responsibilities.
  • Maintain partnership with Poudre Fire Authority, coordinate and manage fire inspections and drills for all schools, classrooms, and district buildings; discuss findings and make corrections; inspect and recharge all site fire extinguishers.
  • Manage Larimer County Health Department inspection reports; determine action and delegate work; maintain compliance.
  • Train facility staff, chemical coordinators, and temporary summer staff on safe handling, reporting, disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials; assess training needs, conduct programs, document participation and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Maintain radon test results at existing schools and perform required tests for new schools and renovations.
  • Investigate, assess, and recommend solutions to indoor air quality complaints; coordinate mitigation with support personnel and professional consultants if needed.
  • Assist in coordination and management of district personnel, Red Cross, VOAD, and local, state, and federal agencies during emergencies.
  • Respond as essential personnel during emergencies, weather or environmental events, or school/facility/district closures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education And Related Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety or related field.
  • More than five years of progressive, related experience required; equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
  • Designation as a Certified Safety Professional (SCP) required.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Or CERTIFICATIONS
  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Must meet district driver insurability requirements; valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Asbestos Inspector and Management Planner certification.
  • 40‑hour Hazardous Waste Operations Certification (HazWoper).
  • Pay range listed for new hires; existing employees should refer to appropriate salary schedule.
