The State of Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is seeking an Environmental Scientist 1 in Nashville to support entry-level environmental programs and radiological health training. The role emphasizes learning under supervision while handling routine environmental compliance tasks.

You will assist with public interactions, data handling, and regulatory interpretation, preparing you for progression to higher environmental science roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field.
• Eligibility for access to radiological systems may be required; completion of NRC/other federal training may be necessary.
• Knowledge of biology, chemistry, geology, and environmental regulations is expected.

Responsabilités

• Evaluate credentials of medical users, facility design, and proper use of radioisotopes.
• Engage with the public to provide expert assistance on radioactive materials usage.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies involving radiation sources at licensed facilities.
• Assist regulated community and employees in understanding applicable state regulations.
