Job summary

Florida Department of Environmental Protection in Tallahassee, FL is seeking an Environmental Specialist II to develop and revise SOPs for sampling, QA documentation, and training. Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Florida coastal policies.
  • Knowledge of environmental field sampling techniques, terminology, principles and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of environmental laboratory analytical methods, principles and terminology.
  • Knowledge of QA principles and measures, including laboratory, field, and data validation activities.
  • Knowledge of data management best practices, including formatting and validation.
  • Knowledge of Chapters 62-160 applicable to field sampling and lab analysis.
  • Ability to interpret rules and regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and revise SOPs for sample collection and QA documentation.
  • Provide QA support for ORCP programs and communicate with staff and contractors.
  • Lead QA meetings and trainings; prepare Annual QA Report with recommendations.
  • Plan and implement statewide QA training for ORCP employees.
  • Review data and analyses to support SEACAR program and data stewardship.
  • Conduct audits of ORCP activities and assess procedures, equipment, and records.
  • Coordinate special projects and public/partner events related to QA.
