Job summary

The U.S. Coast Guard is seeking a civilian Environmental Compliance Specialist at Base Elizabeth City, NC. You will help implement an CMP, promote regulatory compliance, and sustain environmental performance across facilities and operations.

Summary

This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Deputy Commandant for Mission Support, Director of Operational Logistics, Office of Base Operations (DOL-3), Facilities Engineering Department, Base Elizabeth City, Elizabeth City, NC.

Duties

This position supports and facilitates the execution of an environmental compliance management plan (CMP), promoting sustainment of environmental compliance and sustainability across and throughout the complex.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

• Conducting and documenting environmental inspections, audits, and monitoring of facilities, operations, and activities to support compliance with environmental laws, regulations, permits, and unit compliance management plans.
• Supporting management of hazardous, universal, used oil, and other solid waste streams, including container handling, labeling, storage, inventory, and coordination of waste disposal in accordance with RCRA and other regulatory requirements.
• Providing administrative and technical support for hazardous materials management.
• Assisting with emergency preparedness and spill response.
• Maintaining environmental compliance records and data (e.g., inspection logs, waste inventories, manifests, sampling results)
• Serving as a technical point of contact for environmental support contracts (e.g., waste disposal, sampling, recycling, parts washer/oily rag services), monitoring waste streams and coordinating services with unit operations.
