Job description

The Department of Environmental Protection is on the lookout for passionate individuals committed to safeguarding the well-being of both the people and the environment of Pennsylvania. If you are eager to advance your career, the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation's office in Wilkes-Barre is eager to connect with you!

The individual occupying this role will be responsible for evaluating the work associated with abandoned mine land reclamation projects, which includes overseeing construction activities and assessing materials used in these reclamation efforts. Additionally, this position will provide support to supervisors and project engineers across a diverse array of initiatives managed by the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation, specifically within the Wilkes Barre District Office.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This is a field position that will cover project sites in the following Counties: Luzerne, Schuylkill and Lackawanna counties.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of construction inspection experience on heavy construction projects such as dams, flood control projects, mine reclamation projects, treatment plants, hazardous waste projects, airports, highways or utility installations; or
  • An Associate Degree in Building Construction Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
